Bloomfield Shopping Centre - Environmental Policy The management team at Bloomfield Shopping Centre and Retail Park is committed to taking an environmentally friendly approach to running the Centre. By focusing on recycling, reducing and reusing all stakeholders receive tangible benefits:- Add to all of this the less tangible benefit to the environment as a whole through our reduced production of carbon gases, diminished reliance on landfill sites, adoption of “green” cleaning products etc. and it becomes clear that whether viewed from the purely commercial or the more prosaic point of view it is hard to argue against the drive to a more eco-friendly management system. To assist our focus we set ourselves the target of attaining level 2 accreditation under the Green Dragon Environmental Management System. This system provides a structure to our efforts and invaluable support from its providers Arena Network N.I. In becoming Ireland’s First Green Dragon Shopping Centre we have not only for e.g. decreased the amount of waste we send to landfill by around 25% but have also committed to a continuing scheme introducing environmentally friendly measures into our management and operational practices. One of the most visible examples of this will be ECOday on Saturday 25th October (see Events) aimed at improving the flow of environmental information, through a variety of interesting but fun means. Please see our ECOmatters board at the main entrance for more environmental information about the Centre and in general. Bloomfield’s ECOmission is:- “To take the environmentally friendly alternative whenever viable” |
